​Tights & Shoes and Undergarments

Please utilize the below recommendations for all MDW classes!
We have a rich culture at MDW of celebrating and appreciating the many facets of diversity in our student body. One of the ways we do this is we require that all our students wear flesh tone tights, shoes and leotards for all performances so that the beauty in the hues of our skin tones can be honored and matched in our garments.

For everyday classes, we require leotard and tights and appropriate shoes, but we do not have a color dress code. We believe that expressing yourself in small ways is appropriate and that includes what color tights or leotard you wear to class. Boys need only to wear a dance belt, leggings or shorts, and t-shirt to classes.

 There are many companies that sell flesh tone tights. The below are just a few to start your search! We request you get "convertible" tights for ages 8+
Jazz Shoes
We require all our jazz classes to wear leather slip on jazz shoes. There are several companies that provide this, here is just one example.​

Ballet Shoes

.Please review the below list of options for ballet shoes. MDW uses canvas split sole ballet shoes for ages 5+.

Boys Wear

At MDW we want our boys to have fun and be comfortable while training intently. Generally, we require they wear footless or footed tights for ballet classes, a dance belt, and shorts or leggings for Acro or Jazz. Please review below link to find dance wear.
